Silver Airways aborts St. Pete-Clearwater flights
Silver Airways has announced that it would be aborting its attempt to start flights at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) in Florida.
In January, the carrier announced that it would be bringing daily flights from Fort Lauderdale and Key West to St. Pete-Clearwater starting in March. That date was delayed until the announcement that Silver would not be coming to St. Pete-Clearwater.
“Bookings for the PIE flights were not performing to a level to be economically feasible,” said Silver spokeswoman Misty Pinson.
Pinson stated that passengers already booked on flights would be accommodated on flights out of nearby Tampa International Airport instead.
“It is unfortunate that Silver Airways decided not to begin service, but our goal continues to be to recruit new or expand existing service to better serve the traveling public,” said Noah Lagos, airport director, in a statement.
