Frontier continues rapid expansion; adds 10 new routes
As Frontier slowly shrinks its main hub at Denver International Airport, it is quickly building an elaborate east coast network with multiple focus cities.
In a release on Wednesday, Frontier announced it will add 10 new routes to its network beginning in October, focusing primarily on growth in Florida.
“We are excited to continue to expand our brand of low-fare service,” said Daniel Shurz, Frontier’s senior vice president, commercial.
The new routes and their launch dates are:
-Orlando: Atlanta (12/14), Chicago Ohare (12/20), St. Louis (12/20) and Milwaukee (1/7/15)
-West Palm Beach: Denver (10/26), Trenton (11/21) and Washington Dulles (11/21)
-Fort Lauderdale: St. Louis (1/8/15)
-Fort Myers: Milwaukee (1/8/15)
-Cancun: Washington Dulles (11/22-pending government approval)
To many analysts, the addition of two more Washington Dulles routes comes as a surprise, as it has yet to to begin operations at Dulles. Wednesday’s announcement brings the total number of planned destinations at Dulles to 18 for Frontier, which opens operations at its newest focus city August 19.
