United Airlines will be launching daily flights to Istanbul from its Newark Liberty hub beginning July 1. The new route will make Istanbul United’s 76th international city served from Newark, and the airline’s 37th trans-Atlantic route.
“We are excited to add Istanbul to our global route network,” said Jim Compton, United’s executive vice president and chief revenue officer in the announcement. “This new service will provide customers throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America direct access to one of the most important cities in the region.”
United will utilize a 183-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft on the route initially. Beginning Aug. 28, United will switch to 214-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft.
