Bloomberg is reporting that Delta executives will be voting this week to go ahead with a 100 aircraft order with Boeing for its popular 737 series aircraft.
According to the report, Delta will order 100 of Boeing’s 737-900 extended range jet. A decision to purchase smaller narrow-body aircraft from Canadian manufacturer Bombardier has been delayed reports Bloomberg.
The value of the Boeing deal is estimated at $8.6 billion at list prices.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Boeing and rival manufacturer Airbus met with Delta executives last week to make sales presentations for replacement aircraft.
Delta has long been a Boeing customer, but inherited hundreds of Airbus aircraft through its merger with Northwest Airlines in 2008.
