The Wall Street Journal has reported that Chicago based American Airlines has been ordered by an Illinois court to return its schedule and airfare postings onto Orbitz Worldwide Inc.’s websites.

American removed its schedule and fares from the online booking website in a dispute over fees in December 2010.  Since then, other airlines publishing fares on Orbitz have taken about half of American’s former share.

After hours trading of Orbitz’s stock has surged over 50% since the ruling in favor of the website.  “This reinstatement of American Airlines full schedule of flights on Orbitz.com and Orbitz for Business is a win for transparency, consumer choice and for all of our mutual customers,” Orbitz said in a statement.
