Air France 447 flight data recorder found

According to French investigators, the chasis of the flight data recorder from Air France flight 447 has been found.  Reportedly, the memory unit that contains the data is missing.

Flight AF447 crashed into the Atlantic Ocean June 1, 2009 on a flight from Rio de Janeiro, South America to Paris, France.  The Airbus A330-200 had sent a series of warnings to Air France headquarters in France before disappearing from radar.  There were no survivors.

According to Aviation Week, “the FDR casing was found on the first dive of the Romora 6000 unmanned, underwater vehicle, which operated for 12 hours.  Other aircraft debris was in the area.”
